Nurturing Young Scientists
To nurture excellent young scientists, the Institute accepts research fellows, including postdoctoral researchers selected under the Institute's unique scholarship system, contracts researchers from industry, students, and employees from affiliate universities and companies.
In addition, the Institute, as an open research center, provides positions and occasions for a broad spectrum of researchers and has various systems to facilitate information and personal exchanges. The Institute's research fellow system is directed to collaborative work with researchers from universities, companies and various research organizations while the researchers retain their own positions there. The Institute also has a senior scientist system to educate young promising scientists, and a visiting researcher system to invite outstanding scientists from Japan and abroad for facilitating personal exchanges, broadening the coverage of research, and introducing fresh perspectives.
Still more, through the Fellowship for Research in Japan of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the City of Osaka's Fellowship, and other fellowships, OBI receives qualified young researchers from abroad to promote international exchange through mutual stimulation and daily cooperation in the study with foreign researchers, having different ways of thinking and different cultural backgrounds from ours. We also exchange information with overseas research organizations and maintain a system for mutually inviting researchers.
